Brinkmanship is defined as the art or practice of pursuing a dangerous policy to the limits of safety before stopping. The brinkmanship between many countries in the Cold War caused for a state of fear or anxiety. This was specifically seen between the United States and the Soviet Union, with the increased tension and threat for war during this time period. As the two were racing to create atomic weapons, prepare for war, and improve on science and technology, it created this type of conflict where they were ready to break out in war.
